FiveStar 11/05/11

DISCLAIMER: This is very disappointing. Some of you know that I covered several NBHA events, bull riding, and a rodeo last year - most of which were indoors or outdoors at night. Bottom line is that I just suck in the dark! By the time I hooked up with FiveStar last year I'd had some experience in the dark and got a little better toward the end of the season, but I still choked. This year I only covered FiveStar and most of the races were in daylight. For the Finals, I'd already lost the daylight when the Open began and was shooting with a tripod/flash and dealing with the wind which was occasionally enough to move my equipment enough that many of my shots were out of focus.

Ispent a lot of time trying to save the Open shots, but ended up trashing many of them. I know that many of you are not as picky as I am, so I'm going to post some photos I'm not proud of but you will want to see anyway. Most of them won't look good blown up to full-screen size but may be OK for printing at 4"x6". I promise I'll figure this out and be better next season.

The only good news (as I post the photos) is that I started to get a bit better toward the end of the Open. I still had focus issues, but I think the wind had died down a bit.
